knowonder!™ Closing until further notice...
Now, I have some unfortunate news to share, and rather than draw things out, I have always been one to get right to the point. Knowonder! magazine, although off to a stellar beginning, is in trouble financially, and needs a financial partner who can see the magazine through it’s first year of operation, until it can become profitable. Although I had originally planned to shoulder most of this financial burden myself, I am now unable to continue alone, and need to find a partner who can assist in this venture. Although I do have a couple of great leads and potential partners, nothing has come to fruition, yet.
So, I am writing this email for two reasons. First, to tell you that we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to stop publication of the magazine until we can secure a long-term financial partner.
The second reason is to ask you, our biggest fans and supporters, for your help in finding a partner. If you know someone who may be interested, please email me.
The magazine has a very solid business model, with strong financial projections, and potential for high profit. Most magazines don’t break even for two to three years, and I strongly believe knowonder! magazine can do it in less time than that. You have proven to me that knowonder! magazine is a product and service that families across the world not only want and need, but can also become passionate and excited about! It has been amazing to see the response, and I am confident that with the right partner, knowonder! magazine can become a powerful voice in the world of literacy, as well as children’s literature writing and publishing.
If you know of someone with capital who is looking for a strong, unique and meaningful business venture, I would love to hear from them.
We are also looking into the possibility of turning knowonder! into a non-profit organization, which would allow us to take the magazine to lower income families across America, where we are currently only able to focus on taking the printed magazine to higher-income areas (due to the needs of advertisers to get the biggest return on their investment).
I am so sorry to be the bearer of this unfortunate news. I apologize to all of you who have sent us stories that have not yet been published. I especially apologize to all the families and children (including mine) who have come to love reading knowonder! stories together each day. I don’t know what your personal religious affiliations or beliefs are, but I personally believe there are some things in life that happen for a reason, and I believe knowonder! magazine is one of those things. I am committed to making it live again, and we will contact you as soon as all necessary funding has been arranged, and production is again underway.
Now, just a couple of notes in regards to the current issues of knowonder! magazine. For those of you who have published stories in the November issue, we will still be announcing winners, so keep your eyes open for that email next month.
Also, for those of you who subscribed to receive physical copies of the magazine, we will be processing refunds over the next week for your remaining balance.
Last, I apologize that I will not be able to reply to each email individually, but will do my best if you would like to write me with any thoughts or concerns.
Thank you for your wonderful support through the last months. I wish you a wonderful holiday season.
Warmly,
Phillip J. Chipping, Founder
